What it is
A tiny menu-bar app that turns talking into terminal input. Hold the trigger key, say what you want, and Operator drops it straight into the terminal you're looking at — Claude Code, a REPL, a plain shell. When an agent has something to say back, it says it out loud. Everything runs on-device.
Why it's good
- Fast — push-to-talk to text in your terminal in about a second. No cloud hop, no spinner.
- All local — WhisperKit listens, Kokoro speaks, both on your Mac. No cloud, no API keys, nothing you say leaves the machine. Works on a plane.
- Minimal — a menu-bar icon and one hotkey. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
- Terminal-native — iTerm2 and Ghostty, not a browser tab. Running several agents? Each gets its own voice, so you know who's talking.
- Built by someone who writes software — keyboard-first, local, no telemetry, no nonsense. The tool I wanted for running a wall of terminals.
