Privacy Policy

Operator is a Mac app for talking to terminal agents by voice. This policy explains the little data involved and where it goes.

Your voice stays on your device

Voice capture, transcription (WhisperKit), and speech synthesis (Kokoro) all run entirely on your Mac — your audio is never uploaded to us or to any cloud speech service. The transcribed text is then delivered to whichever terminal agent you're talking to (Claude Code, aider, …); from there it follows that tool's own terms, exactly as if you had typed it. Operator itself sends none of it anywhere.

What we collect

Only what's needed to run a subscription. Payments are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, who collects your email and payment details under their privacy policy. As the seller, we can see your email address and subscription status in our Polar dashboard. The Operator app on your Mac receives only whether your license is currently active — not your email, and never your payment-card details.

Stored on your Mac

Your license key and its activation id are stored in your Mac's Keychain, and sent to Polar only to activate and re-validate your license. When you activate, your Mac's name (e.g. "Jud's MacBook Pro") is sent to Polar as a label, so you can tell your activated devices apart.
